Major domestic building contract
Work costing more than $10,000 requires a written major domestic building contract including statutory warranties, cooling-off period and progress payment schedule. Work cannot start until the contract is signed.
Building permit required
Structural work, including underpinning, requires a building permit issued by a registered building surveyor. Work cannot start until the permit is granted and must comply with the Building Act and National Construction Code.
